Creative Writing GSEB Std 11 English Grammar

Creative Writing is never a conventional writing or fixed-format writing. It is any writing that goes outside the bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic, or technical forms of literature. It can technically be considered any writing of original composition. It includes the variety of genres of literature. The purpose of creative writing is to express something, whether it be feelings, thoughts or emotions.

Rather than only giving information or inciting the reader to make an action beneficial to the writer, creative writing Is written to entertain or educate someone, to spread awareness about something or someone, or to express one’s thoughts.

Creative Writing includes free writing. journalling. memoirs. fiction, storytelling! writing. composing poetry and free verse. articles, blog writing, writing characters and dialogues, and so on.

Topics for creative writing could be some of the following:

1. One sentence story: e.g., After having a glimpse of ‘Rajbhog’ at the temple, the beggar died of hunger on a footpath.
2. Complete the thought story by filling in the blanks: e.g., When I got an I-phone as a gift…
3. Letters to the Past: One can write a letter to oneself at a specific point in one’s past. What can he tell that self about how things are going for him now? What questions can he answer for his past self? What advice can he give?

4. Name the Emotion: One can write about an emotion without ever using the name of the feeling itself, or synonyms for it. How can one describe sadness, or happiness or anger?

5. Interviews with characters: Imagine your character is being interviewed. Maybe it’s for a magazine, for a job, or by the police. What kind of questions can be asked and how they can be answered.

1. What would it be like to live in a world where everyone’s dreams came true?

2. Imagine that you are given the power to make any one of your dreams come true. Which dream would you choose? Write about the dream that is most important to you and why you would most want it to come true.

3. Pick a natural landmark or a geographical feature and write an origin story about it from the perspective of one of the world’s first civilized cultures. How did the landmark or geographical feature come to be? What does it represent? Why should it be important to humans?

4. If you could go to space at some point in your life, what would you most like to see or experience? Choose anything in the universe and write about it whether or not it would be realistic for a person to travel there!

5. If you could invent any tool or new technology that would improve your life in some way, what would you create? What would it do? How would it work? When would you use it?

6. What does it mean to have a successful life? What is the best way to measure success? Why?

7. Imagine that you are selected as an ambassador for fifth-grade students all across the country and that you get to meet the President. What would you want to discuss with the President? What experiences of other fifth graders would you choose to share?

8. What is the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you? Write about your experience and be sure to describe how you felt during and after the event.

9. Think of one of your favourite stories from your childhood – and then rewrite it with an alternate ending.

Students can also be given some topics to write on. They will think for themselves and elaborate over them:

  • Animals: Choose an animal. Write about it!
  • Friendship: Write about being friends with someone.

A bird is a beautiful little creature. It is an epitome of freedom and independence. Human beings must derive inspiration from the hard work they do to fetch their food and make their nests. Seeing them winging in the vast sky fascinates children to fly as high as them. (A model answer has been provided for student’s reference. It is strongly recommended that students prepare the answer on their own.)

Answer:
When the last of the guests left, I went back into the hall to look for my mobile phone that I had left by mistake. As I went near the table that I had occupied, I saw a man hiding under it. The black mask he wore covered the whole face except his brown eyes, which were filled with terror. Though dressed as a thief, he seemed incapable of stealing. When I asked him to come out of his hiding, he complied.

Standing face to face with the man who had come to rob my house, the only thing I was able to notice about him was his teary, simple and honest eyes. On being asked to remove his mask and reveal his true identity, he broke down inconsolably. I gave him water to drink and made him sit comfortably. He revealed that he had decided to take to robbery as the last resort to save his daughter’s life, who was in coma.

Hearing this, I decided to not report the matter to the police. Already regretting taking to robbery, he was grateful that I was not handing him over to the police. Though he refused to take financial help from me, I insisted. He promised never to rob anyone and work hard to fight the problems of his life.
