1. ॐ हरये नम: Om bow to God Shri Vishnu!
The first mantra is of God Shri Vishnu. Shri Vishnu is the God of nourishing.
(In this mantra ॐ is also a mantra, which is made of three letters: अ, उ and म् ( ओऽम्). These three letters are the symbols of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.)
2. ॐ मानवे नम: Om bow to God the Sun!
The sun is the soul of the world. He is the life of all and the ‘Friend’ of all. By worshiping the God Sun the friend of vegetation and animals – we gain brilliance, wealth and strength.
3. ॐ द्यौः शान्तिः अन्तरिक्षं शान्तिः, पृथिवी शान्तिः, आपः
शान्तिरोषधयः शान्तिर्वनस्पतयः शान्तिर्विश्वेदेवाः
शान्तिब्रह्म शान्तिः सर्व शान्तिः
शान्तिरेव शान्तिः, सा मा शान्तिरेधि।
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ।।
Om, o paradise, bestow us peace. O space, bestow us peace. O the earth, the water, the herbs, the vegetation and all the Gods of universe, bestow us peace. All these are peace, only the peace, and let me get only that peace. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti This is the mantra for peace (शान्तिमन्त्र). o all the things of the universe pass the waves of peace and make me – the spiritul disciple of peace-peaceful. In this way, high sentiment has been presented in this mantra.
4. सर्वमङ्गलमाङ्गगल्ये शिवे सर्वार्थसाधिके।
शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके गौरि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥
O the companion of the three-eyed God Shiva, bestowing auspicious things, blessing property, succeeding all the aims, protecting to surrender, (I) bowing to you! In this shioka bowing has been performed to Mother Parvati — bestowing auspicious to all.
5. अज्ञानतिमिरान्धस्य ज्ञानाञ्जनशलाकया।
चक्षुरुन्मीलितं येन तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः।।
(येन अज्ञानतिमिरान्धस्य ज्ञानाञ्जनशलाकया चक्षुः उन्मीलितम् तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ।।)
Bowing to preceptor (Shri Gurudev) who has opened my eye of knowledge with a fine rod for applying collyrium of knowledge which has become blind due to ignorance.
In this shioka bowing has been performed to preceptor giving knowledge.
